Compare the options prescribed for you. Replacement timing changes how the annual supply is counted.

Daily disposables

Count one new lens per eye per wear day. Occasional wear uses fewer lenses. Round each eye’s annual need up to whole boxes.

365 wear days ÷ 90 lenses = 5 boxes per eye.

Monthly & two-week lenses

This estimate uses 12 monthly or 27 two-week lenses per eye for a full year. Budget solution and cases separately.

Less frequent wear does not extend an opened lens’s replacement interval.

Whole-box spending is different from the value of lenses used.

Two eyes wearing dailies for 365 days need 730 lenses. Buying ten 90-packs supplies 900 lenses, leaving 170 unused. The calculator budgets the boxes you buy. Reuse remaining stock only while unexpired and suitable for your current prescription.

Follow your prescribed replacement and care instructions. Alcon’s lens-care guidance explains single-use and reusable lens care. RGP and custom lenses need an individual replacement plan and are outside this calculator.

How much do contacts cost per month without insurance?

Divide annual whole-box spending by 12. In the dated Biofinity example, $250.60 a year averages $20.88 per month for both eyes, before care, exams and tax. This is a budgeting average, not a monthly checkout price.

Are daily or monthly contacts cheaper?

It depends on the prescribed products, box prices, wear pattern and care costs. Calculate each option using its actual quote. Occasional use reduces daily-lens consumption; it does not extend a monthly lens’s replacement interval after opening.

Do toric and multifocal contacts cost more?

Prices vary by product and pack size. The table includes spherical, toric and multifocal examples so you can compare actual offers rather than assume a fixed percentage surcharge. You can also view the toric contact lens price examples together.

Does the estimate include insurance or an eye exam?

Only when you enter those confirmed amounts under the optional settings. An unknown insurance benefit is not guessed: the result shows spending before that benefit. Exam and fitting charges should be entered as one confirmed total.
